November/December Recap

Since November was quite a busy month and December didn’t have quite so much going on, we wanted to combine the two months in some form of double release! November had some pretty major events like the DM Photo Exhibition and photography basic courses, but it also included some more chill activities like the movie night and analog developing session. On the 12th, we had a nice walk around the city for GLOW, which was followed by the studio workshop the next week. December had three main activities — double exposure, the Cosmos “scene shuffle” collaboration, and the Christmas dinner. Both months were good fun and a nice way to round off 2024.

GLOW

Every year, the city of Eindhoven hosts the GLOW light festival. It features impressive light displays all around the center; some of which can be seen all across town! DM got together on the 12th of November to walk around and take pictures of all the beautiful lights.

Exhibition – Caution: Wet Floor

The DM Photo Exhibition of 2024 had the theme “Caution: Wet Floor” and featured pieces by 10 different photographers. Each photographer had their own way of interpreting the quite abstract theme, which led to a collection of unique photos with interesting descriptions. A small opening was held before the analog developing activity, which gave photographers an opportunity to discuss their photos with those who showed up.

Double Exposure

Entering December, the first main activity of the month was the double exposure activity. Photographers made use of the multiple exposures feature that can be found in some newer camera models to create photos like the one seen here. Double exposure was a tactic originally used with analog cameras, but has since entered the digital world with the help of camera settings and editing!

DM Christmas

To finish off the year, DM decorated the studio to host a Christmas dinner and “white elephant” gift exchange. The vibe was quite cozy and the food was quite tasty, leading to a very nice Christmas dining experience. After enjoying the meal, we did some necessary cleaning and moved into the white elephant gift exchange. This included some very interesting gifts, to say the least.

October Recap

To wrap up the month of October, we wanted to review the four activities we hosted all over the city of Eindhoven! The activities of this month include two-tone photography in the DM studio and surrounding buildings, the Constitution Drink (CoBo) in Hubble, a committee interest drink at the Rex Snooker & Pool Club in the city center, and a spooky ghosting activity done around the TU/e campus. This was a very nice month to kick off our board year, and we look forward to many months to come!

Two-Tone Photography

The two-tone activity experimented with multiple colored flashes creating an interesting contrast and atmosphere. We had a great time making use of the DM studio and traversing the halls of Neuron to take these awesome pictures!

*Though we might have scared a few innocent passersby in Neuron with our flash setup*

CoBo

Although very chaotic, we left the CoBo with 14 guest book entries and several highly useful gifts from other associations — we can now sit on the floor and enjoy our lunch on a legless table from Footloose! On another note, the order worked tirelessly to defend our board and belongings against a raid of 30 Knights members, unfortunately losing both Levis present on the stage. All things considered, I commend all of our present members for staving off what could’ve been a much more effective attack.

Committee Interest Drink

As Dekate Mousa, we love our committees very much, thus leading us to promote them over a nice game of pool at the Rex Snooker & Pool Club. Our committees have seen a nice surge in reinforcements since this event, and I am very interested to see what new ideas are brought forth this year.

Ghosting

To wrap up the spookiest month of the year, we decided to become ghosts for a few hours on the last Tuesday before exam weeks. Perhaps we have now haunted the campus thoroughly and introduced some good exam-passing energy for all TU/e students! The photos from this activity were very fun to look through and definitely did justice to the Halloween vibes.
