Hello DM members! As the first collaboration activity of this academic year, we invite you all to join forces with the international student association, Cosmos, to create some funny skits with a small twist. In groups, you will receive a specific number of shots to use, a theme, and a challenge. You will record a skit that is around 2-3 minutes. This activity does not start at 20:00, nor is it in the DM studio. So make sure to get to the Cosmos Common Room at 19:00 to join this activity! The room is located on the ground floor of MetaForum and can be seen to the right of the main entrance stairs. Hope to see you there!

Double exposure is a photography style used originally with analog cameras by taking two pictures on the same film, but in this day and age can be done quite easily with most newer digital cameras. We will, of course, provide cameras with double exposure capabilities, but it’s also nice to check your own cameras to see if they can do it as well!

As many of you may already know, the city of Eindhoven puts on the GLOW festival every year since 2006. It features impressive light displays all across the city with many interactive elements. As DM, we will walk the route of GLOW armed with cameras and tripods to capture this festival through our own lens. We will meet in the DM studio (Luna -1.398) at 20:00 and begin with the part of the route that comes into contact with the TUE campus. We hope to see you there!

Happy November everyone! We have many events planned for this month, including a photo exhibition in MetaForum, the photography basic course, and Scalloween. As far as regular Tuesday activities go, we have a chill movie night during the exam week, a walk through the GLOW event in Eindhoven, the studio workshop where you can officially gain studio access, and an analog workshop where we will develop black and white film. With so many big events planned, this is sure to be a very exciting month!

To wrap up the month of October, we wanted to review the four activities we hosted all over the city of Eindhoven! The activities of this month include two-tone photography in the DM studio and surrounding buildings, the Constitution Drink (CoBo) in Hubble, a committee interest drink at the Rex Snooker & Pool Club in the city center, and a spooky ghosting activity done around the TU/e campus. This was a very nice month to kick off our board year, and we look forward to many months to come!

Subscriptions for our yearly photography basic course are now open! The photography basic course is your opportunity to expand on your photography knowledge, whether you are a complete beginner or already have been doing photography for some time. The course will be given by two of our own experienced photographers and spans three evenings, covering everything that you need to know to take great pictures and edit them.

👻 OOooooOOOOoOO it’s the last regular activity before Halloween! If you’ve ever wanted to pretend to be a ghost, now just might be your best opportunity. We will be doing a long-exposure “ghosting” activity where you create an illusion of transparency that can lead to some rather spooky results. Together as DM we can haunt the TUe campus with our scary flashes and tripod setups. Join us (initially) in the DM studio on October 22nd at the standard 20:00 if you are interested in becoming a ghost (only for a few hours, I promise)! OOooooOOOOoOO 👻

Lighting is a very integral aspect of photography and is therefore very fun to experiment with, especially in the context of portraits. Changing the color, positioning, and intensity of the flashes can lead to very interesting and aesthetically-pleasing results. You might even end up with some great portraits of yourself! For this activity, we will use two different colored flashes to create a nice split and contrast in the portraits taken. This activity will take place in the DM studio at 20:00 as per usual, and we would love to see you there!
