DESCRIPTION:During the exam week the board has finally found the time to properly clean and reorganise the studio. To celebrate this we are organising an archive-exploration-activity\, where we use our old slide-projectors to look back to DM’s 60 years of history. SUMMARY:OCW: Modern take on paintings (Public)
DESCRIPTION:Paintings\, we have all seen so many of them. Museums are filled with portrets ranging from hundreds of years ago to modern abstract pieces. When looking at the older pieces\, a lot can still be translated to our modern day society. It will of course look at little difference but messages from the painters rarely fade over time. This is your chance to transform this message to something which appeals to modern day society! Taking inspiration from old paintings and making new art with them is something we will do on the Monday of the Open Culture Week. This can be remaking a painting with costumes\, photoshopping yourself into a frame or incorporating modern items into old painting using photoshop\, as can be seen from picture above. For this activity you only need to bring a camera\, a creative mindset and maybe a little photoshop here and there\, see you on Monday!

DESCRIPTION:As photographers we love light\, but sometimes you have to work with a little less light\, especially when your activity starts at 20:00 and it’s still only the 14th of February. Since night will still fall quite early\, we are doing a long exposure activity! You can of course place your camera on a tripod and be done with it\, but there are many different ways to gather all the light we crave in these dark times. Long exposure for example is a great way to capture movement in a still image. Have you tried for example zooming in or out\, defocussing\, panning\, tilting or rotating you camera while taking a picture? We encourage you to unleash your creativity during this activity where we will go out together to take some amazing\, experimental and fun pictures!

DESCRIPTION:In this Open Culture week we will revive an old DM classic: steel wool spinning! In the evening we will walk on and around the TU/e campus (we will find some new locations in case you were wondering 😉) to light up the sky with sparks and make some beautiful long exposures. So make sure to bring your tripod. Last time it rained during the evening\, limiting our options\, but we hope that this time everything can go on as planned! DESCRIPTION:It is already time for the half yearly General Member Meeting. Time is going by so quickly this year we would almost forget the amount of innovation DM is going through. For this GMM it will not concern the boring but very important statute updates or bylaw changes (okay maybe a little bit). But this GMM includes a lot of member input! It is time for the committee updates\, where we will get an insight into what our different committee’s here at DM are\, what they do and what they are currently working on. We would love to have as any members as possible attend as we really want to hear what you think about the projects that are ongoing within DM.
