DESCRIPTION:On Tuesday 11th of April\, we have the film night. First\, we will watch some amazing DM short film productions (from Film Jam and the results of the dance videography). Then for the main movie\, we will be watching Parasite! This movie starts off when Ki-Woo who is from a poor family in Seoul\, starts working for a wealthy family. I won’t spoil it any further\, but it’s safe to say that it will be full of suspense with some interesting twists\, with its themes around class and greed. It also boosts some great cinematography filled with symbolism\, for which it won best picture in 2019 at the Oscars. So be sure to come and have a great break enjoying this amazing piece of cinema!

SUMMARY:OCW: Long exposure (Public)
DESCRIPTION:As photographers we love light\, but sometimes you have to work with a little less light\, especially when your activity starts at 20:00 and it’s still only the 14th of February. Since night will still fall quite early\, we are doing a long exposure activity! You can of course place your camera on a tripod and be done with it\, but there are many different ways to gather all the light we crave in these dark times. Long exposure for example is a great way to capture movement in a still image. Have you tried for example zooming in or out\, defocussing\, panning\, tilting or rotating you camera while taking a picture? We encourage you to unleash your creativity during this activity where we will go out together to take some amazing\, experimental and fun pictures!

SUMMARY:OCW: Modern take on paintings (Public)
DESCRIPTION:Paintings\, we have all seen so many of them. Museums are filled with portrets ranging from hundreds of years ago to modern abstract pieces. When looking at the older pieces\, a lot can still be translated to our modern day society. It will of course look at little difference but messages from the painters rarely fade over time. This is your chance to transform this message to something which appeals to modern day society! Taking inspiration from old paintings and making new art with them is something we will do on the Monday of the Open Culture Week. This can be remaking a painting with costumes\, photoshopping yourself into a frame or incorporating modern items into old painting using photoshop\, as can be seen from picture above. For this activity you only need to bring a camera\, a creative mindset and maybe a little photoshop here and there\, see you on Monday!

DESCRIPTION:During the exam week the board has finally found the time to properly clean and reorganise the studio. To celebrate this we are organising an archive-exploration-activity\, where we use our old slide-projectors to look back to DM’s 60 years of history. After Yang (2021) is about the loss of an extraordinary family member\, set in the not-too-distant future where humanoid AIs are nearly indistinguishable from humans. The movie makes you think about the way memories are formed and the moments that are really important in life. The cinematography brings forward interesting framing and the remarkable use of light. She will share how she started her own photography business and the challenges along the way\, both in practical matters and in her personal growth.
